Leasing a Copier May Be Far good Than Buying One - At Least You Can Upgrade

Leasing a photocopier for your office or indeed, entire firm can be a much best way of development sure you get the best value for your investment. For one, leasing is usually a way to make sure you get 100% tax relief on your equipment (obviously check with your local tax office) and so the cost of the stock is effectively offset against the tax you'll pay at the end of the year. But aside from tax benefits you've also got an easier upgrade path should you wish to convert in the future.

Given that the complexity of these machines means that they are changing constantly, your leasing firm will often give you the option of upgrading to a new version of your hardware when it becomes available as long as you enlarge the lease. Suppliers are usually looking for a long-term commitment from their customers so if you can give that, they'll happily keep upgrading your kit.

Then comes the issue of how many copies you are likely to be making. Before we tackle this, we need to first quickly talk about what you will be copying and printing because photocopiers these days aren't just about copying what you put on the platter - they're about printing to from your computer.

Many of them are Wi-Fi enabled already and if not then you'll probably find you can still plug a network cable into the side and use it like any networked laser printer.

So you need to take this into catalogue when choosing how many copies and prints you will be doing each month as this can have a big follow on the cost of the copier. If you tend to print many thousands of copies each month (for example if you are a publishing house) then you ideally need to think pre-purchasing your copiers because this will be significantly cheaper. Many suppliers will have a clause that states when you go over a certain limit you will pay much more per-copy than if you'd pre-paid.

Another great feature of many copiers now is the capability to store what has been copied on a hard drive for use later and this can be a boon for associates that very often don't know how many of a singular document to copy or print before it has had opening to be viewed by others.

For example, in a firm I was recently working at there was a 50-page document that was initially printed twenty times for a small distribution. When it was found to be useful and was being requested by many other departments, another forty were needed quickly. As the operator had been quick-thinking and expecting the upturn in requests, she'd already had the document stored on the copier ready to go. One simple push of a button and they were printed and collated.

This is a good story for a whole of reasons but the most compelling is that they were only able to do this because of the lease deal they had with their supplier. A quick call a few weeks ago meant they could upgrade their copier without fuss and am now able to print everything they need to without having to look for another, supplementary copier with the associated supplementary costs.
